I so wish I could be there to pay tribute to my Uncle Merle. He was, to me, the model of what it meant to be a good dad, a good uncle, a good father – a good man. I remember how we often visited on weekends while I was growing up and he always seemed to be working on something. He worked hard, but I also loved to hear about the travels that he and my Aunt Pat took – all over the world. That included a lovely visit with my mom and I in New York City several years ago. We got to show them the highlights, but I also had the opportunity to just sit and chat with him when he finally slowed down in the evenings. He was funny, and smart, and the heart of our family. We will really miss him. Thank you, Uncle Merle, for everything I learned from you. I love and miss you very much.
