Euclid (Bush) Beaulieu
September 10, 1930 to March 17, 2016

Bush was born on September 10, 1930 to Joseph Eugene Beaulieu and Josephine Beaulieu (Pierson) in St. Boniface, Manitoba. They lived there until Bush was five years of age and then moved to Flin Flon, Manitoba. He went to school in Flin Flon and grew up with two brothers: Leo Beaulieu and Paul Beaulieu, and two sisters: Josie Church and Shirlee Beaulieu.
Bush worked for 25 years as a heavy equipment operator for the Canadian Air Force. He also had the privilege of driving many dignitaries around while he worked for the military. He had four children with his first wife Marie Beaulieu (MacDonald) during this time: Victoria Barker; Jacqueline Beaulieu; Blaine Beaulieu; and Barri Beaulieu. Bush also had six grandchildren: Darcy; Shannon; Amy; Rachael; Ross; and Braden.
In 1969, Bush met a young teacher, Miriam Meittinen in Lahr, Germany. They were married there on June 20, 1969. They spent four years travelling throughout Europe. Blaine went to live with them in 1970.
After their stay in Germany, they moved to Dana, Saskatchewan and then to a farm outside of Watrous. Bush and Miriam loved the country life. They loved to watch the wildlife and had some very special dogs to keep them company. They spent a lot of time with Miriam’s cousin Elaine and husband Ewen Cameron, who lived just down the road.
After retiring from the military, Bush drove school bus and was a grader operator in Watrous. He then was hired by the Potash Corporation at Lanigan and he worked underground there for 10 years. His driving partner to the mine was Warren Dunne and they became very good friends. Miriam and Bush became very close to Warren and Judy and enjoyed spending time with the Dunne family.


Bush was a proud, honest, hardworking man. He loved to fish, hunt, curl, go for drives, and play cards. Bush scored an “8 ender” in curling and won many trophies for curling. He also won several sharpshooting awards when he was in the military and managed to shoot a few deer on his hunting trips with Warren.
Bush and Miriam did many road trips throughout North America and went out to visit their children and grandchildren in British Columbia. Bush suffered a stroke in 2010 that affected his ability to swallow. He never gave up and he and Miriam worked together to get some of this ability back. He did have to be tube fed and Miriam was his nurse for over three years. After Miriam became ill and hospitalized, her cousin Margaret Schumacher took over the feeding job until he was able to get into a care facility.
After Miriam passed away, Bush was invited to move to British Columbia to live with his children in Nanaimo and Victoria but he wanted to stay in Watrous. In June of 2013, Bush moved to a long term care facility in Imperial, Saskatchewan. He was loved by all the nurses there and always seemed to be happy. When the staff at the facility asked him to tell them about himself, he said, “I am a nice guy and I like to play cards!” He was lucky to have a local Imperial man, Owen Ulmer play crib with him several days a week for the past couple of years. Bush scored a perfect “29 point” hand in cribbage and made the newspaper headlines. With all of his health struggles, he never once complained and was always in good spirits.
Bush was predeceased by his parents, Joseph Beaulieu and Josephine Beaulieu (Pierson), his brothers Leo Beaulieu, and Paul Beaulieu and his wife Miriam Beaulieu (Miettinen) in 2013. He is survived by sisters Josie Church and Shirlee Beaulieu; his children Victoria, Jacqueline, Blaine, Barri and six grandchildren.
Bush requested that no funeral service be held. A private family gathering will be held at a later date.
