A new companion

In June of 2009 I took dad to the spca to find him a new friend.  They  said her name was sugar and that she was very shy. Dad seemed to like her so we brought her home.  As soon as she was let out of the cage she ran under dads bed and would not come out.  Dad was very concerned about her not coming out thinking she would starve to death because she was not eating.  I told dad that she would be fine and that she just needed to get use to the place but I know dad was stressed  worring about him new friend.

The next day I called dad to see how sugar was doing and he told me that when he got up that morning sugar was curled up on his bed with him.  From that day forward they were companions.  Dad enjoyed watching sugar play, she was so full of engergy and gave him  endless hours of  entertainment.  She motivated him everyday to get out of bed. He took good  care of her, even taking  her outside several times a day.  Dad never liked to go away for to long of a period as he always worried that sugar was alone and was missing him which I know she did.

Dad had 5 wonderful years with his friend.  When he moved into Sherbrook he could not take sugar with him.  I decided that I would take her.  She is now my wonderful freind and I understand how dad felt about her.  She will always remind me of the times spent with her and dad together and I am thankfu that she is now apart of my life.  Although dad did not really remember sugar at the end I know he would be thrilled that she is with me and I can give her the same love that he did.

I know sugar missed dad when she had to move but I only hope that I can provide as much love to her as my dad did.
