Obituary for Jim Hrynkiw

Hrynkiw: Jim
July 17, 1944 – January 7, 2023
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jim Hrynkiw on January 7, 2023, at the age of seventy-eight. Jim was a one-of-a-kind guy, who will be forever loved and remembered by his wife of 57 years, Mavis; daughter Charmaine (Kevin) Himbeault; son Darren (Jill) Hrynkiw; grandchildren: Maria, Elena, Shane and Kail and Kayden; niece Charlyn Idler and nephew Jason Idler; as well as many nieces and nephews on Mavis’ side of the family.
Jim was born to Nellie (Tratch) and Paul Hrynkiw and was raised on a farm near Buchanan, Saskatchewan. It was in Buchanan that Jim and Mavis raised their family until moving to Manitou Beach in 2017.
Jim was a person who enjoyed staying busy, keeping himself occupied with working on the farm, woodworking, and his business ventures. He loved traveling and meeting new people, and especially enjoyed his job as a salesperson with GRK Fasteners where he toured through various lumberyards in western Canada and the northern US. He was keen on reading the news and keeping up to date with the latest current events and was always ready to engage in conversation over a cup of stiff coffee. He had a special affinity for creating & inventing new items or modifying them just because he could! Many family members and friends likely have one of his creations in their possession. Jim was always a valued member of the communities he lived in, often offering his services and assistance as well as his many opinions!
A Memorial Service will be held at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church – #304 5th Ave. West, Watrous, Saskatchewan on Saturday, January 14th at 1:30 p.m. with a gathering to follow at Manitou Beach Community Hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made on Jim’s behalf to the Resort Village of Manitou Beach Walking Trail or Nature Conservancy of Canada – Saskatchewan Branch.
