Obituary for Nancy Smith
SMITH: Nancy Marie (Willcox)
October 16, 1950 – November 11, 2022
Nancy was born on October 16, 1950 to Edward and Clara (Waddell) Willcox of the Pengarth District near Strasbourg, SK. Nancy grew up on the Waddell family farm. She began school at Pengarth, going by bus to Strasbourg when the rural school closed in 1959, graduating in 1969. She worked in Regina for a year before marrying Harry Smith on June 20, 1970. They lived on the Smith family farm northwest of Govan. Harry and Nancy built a new house on the farm in 1980. Nancy took great pride in her yard and house, always making sure the grass was mowed and the flowers were blooming beautifully. Harry and Nancy enjoyed taking yearly holidays down south as well as a trip to Scotland and a cruise to Alaska.
She spent hours sewing, scrapbooking and needlework. She sewed to perfection many sets of fuzzy pajamas for her grandkids. Nancy enjoyed watching Caleb and Landon play hockey and Madison and Carter work on the farm.
Nancy passed away at the age of 72, on Friday, November 11, 2022 at the Last Mountain Pioneer Home in Strasbourg.
Nancy is survived by her husband Harry; daughter Connie (Brian); son Craig (Sandra), Madison and Carter; son Rob (Marcy), Caleb and Landon; sisters-in-law Joyce (Harvey) and June.
A Committal Service will take place at Govan Cemetery on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. A Reception for family and friends will follow at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Govan, SK.
The family thanks all the staff of Last Mountain Pioneer Home for the excellent care they provided to Nancy.
