October 7, 1946 - February 4, 2021
Ethel Vera Taylor (nee Pieper) aged 74 years of Imperial, SK passed away peacefully at the Long Lake Valley Integrated Facility in Imperial, SK on Thursday February 4th, 2021.
Ethel is survived by her husband of 52 years, Murray Taylor; their children Dean (Sharla) Taylor, Boyd Taylor; their grandsons Tyson and Brayden (Dean & Sharla), Chance Naclia (Boyd); her sister Velma (Dallas) McCallum; brothers Allen (Jean) Pieper, Keith (Shannon) Pieper and Floyd (Cynthia) Pieper; in-law family, Allan Crawford, Leslie Taylor, JoAnne French, Kenneth (Donna) Taylor, Heather Osterhaut, Glen (Georgina) Taylor, Randy Taylor, and numerous nieces & nephews.
Ethel was predeceased by her parents Albert and Elsie Pieper; sister & brother-in-law Beatrice (Wayne) Heintz; in-law family, Bill and Ada Taylor, Marjorie & Roy McCallum, Shirley Crawford, Lorne & Lyn Taylor, Vernon French, and Earl Osterhaut.
Ethel was born in Simpson, SK on October 7, 1946. She attended Simpson school and after graduation she attended business college to become a legal secretary. Once completed, her first job was as a Stenographer at the Ken Gordon Law Office in Watrous, SK.
Ethel married Murray Taylor, in Simpson, SK on June 28, 1968. As a gifted seamstress, she made her own wedding dress. After a brief stint in Watrous, Murray & Ethel moved to Saskatoon where Ethel worked for Warren and Nykyforuk, lawyers. On November 16, 1971 Dean Murray Taylor was born, followed by Boyd Roley Taylor on May 17, 1974. Two boys to complete their family. In 1977 they made the decision to purchase the Russel Newlove farm, and rebuilt their forever home on the farm in 1982. Ethel worked and volunteered at various places in the community. She was a hardworking lady who always kept busy. In 1984, while raising 2 boys and farming, Ethel started working at the Imperial Union Hospital. After 22 years of doing laundry and managing medical records, she retired. She made many lifelong friends along the way.
Ethel’s passions were playing the piano, sewing & quilting, gardening, and springtime walks thru the pasture and fields. She loved to see the creek break through in spring and find the first crocuses of the season. Ethel found the beauty in the simplest things. You would find her tending to an amazing garden, in the kitchen preserving her fruits of labour, or preparing a big meal for her loved ones. She was a kind, patient woman who loved her family. She will be dearly missed.
Ethel’s family wishes to thank the staff at LLVIF in Imperial for the amazing care and compassion shown to Ethel during her time there.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, no service will be held. A private family interment will take place at the Simpson Cemetery a later date.
