Obituary for Eugene Palfy

Born December 2, 1935 in Harrow, Ontario, Eugene Palfy, passed away on November 5, 2020. Eugene was 84 years old. Born to Eugene and Mary Anna (Bacso) Palfy, Eugene spent his youth on the family farm in Plunkett - learning mechanics, working a trapline with his brother, and playing hockey. He was one of four children: Emma, Frank, Eugene and Helen. The brothers were very close throughout their childhood and passed away within days of one another: November 5th for Eugene and November 18th for Frank.

Eugene continued the farming tradition working with his Dad and benefiting daily from the wonderful cooking of his Mom. Eugene worked his own farm which had belonged to his grandparents - the Bacso Homestead. Later, he purchased and worked his Dad's farm, too.

Before settling into farming Eugene worked in a meat packing plant in Saskatoon. He lived with his brother, Frank, in Denver, Colorado where they shared an apartment while Eugene attended college. He also worked in the potash industry near Saskatoon. Eugene enjoyed watching sports on television with his Mom and enjoyed listening to opera and symphony music. Eventually, Eugene retired to Lanigan.

Eugene is survived by his younger sister, Helen Pettit (Walt) and many nieces and nephews.

The Funeral Service will be held at Fotheringham's Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, November 25, 2020. Interment in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Plunkett, SK.
