Obituary for Ida Landstrom

Ida Josephine (Olson) Landstrom passed away September 28, 2020 at Nokomis Health Centre. Ida was born April 26, 1915 to Clara and Martin Olson of Duval Sask. She received her primary education at Lakeside school, correspondence and in Govan for grade 12. In 1937 she was accepted in the Regina Grey Nuns’ Hospital and graduated on her birthday in 1940. Almost 20 years of her life were spent nursing in Regina, Broadview and Nokomis hospitals. On June 27, 1942 she married Alvin Landstrom of Govan SK. They were blessed with five children, Laverne, Karen, Dale, Bonnie and Wendy. Hearts were broken when little Karen passed away when only four days old with a cerebral hemorrhage. Ida was much interested in the well being of friends and family. She loved sports such as skating, softball and baseball and watching hockey and curling. She also loved crafts such as ceramics, macramé, scratch art and in later years knitting. She was predeceased by her father, mother, daughter Karen; husband Alvin; three sisters Evelyn, Alice and Marie; three brothers, Ivan, Cliff and Merlin and all of their spouses, son Dale and son-in-law Joseph Dauvin. She is survived by three daughters, Laverne, Bonnie (Barry) and Wendy (Alan), 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and friends. Due to COVID-19 Restrictions a Private Family Funeral Service will take place at Fotheringham's Funeral Chapel, 102 2nd Ave. East, Watrous, SK on Saturday, October 3rd, 2020. A Private Family Interment will take place in Saint Olaf's Pioneer Cemetery.
