Ida Josephine (Olson) Landstrom passed away September 28, 2020 at Nokomis Health Centre. Ida was born April 26, 1915 to Clara and Martin Olson of Duval Sask. She received her primary education at Lakeside school, correspondence and in Govan for grade 12. In 1937 she was accepted in the Regina Grey Nuns’ Hospital and graduated on her birthday in 1940. Almost 20 years of her life were spent nursing in Regina, Broadview and Nokomis hospitals. On June 27, 1942 she married Alvin Landstrom of Govan SK. They were blessed with five children, Laverne, Karen, Dale, Bonnie and Wendy. Hearts were broken when little Karen passed away when only four days old with a cerebral hemorrhage. Ida was much interested in the well being of friends and family. She loved sports such as skating, softball and baseball and watching hockey and curling. She also loved crafts such as ceramics, macramé, scratch art and in later years knitting. She was predeceased by her father, mother, daughter Karen; husband Alvin; three sisters Evelyn, Alice and Marie; three brothers, Ivan, Cliff and Merlin and all of their spouses, son Dale and son-in-law Joseph Dauvin. She is survived by three daughters, Laverne, Bonnie (Barry) and Wendy (Alan), 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and friends. I want to offer my love and condolences to Bonnie, Wendy, and Laverne and their families, as well as the family of Dale, in the passing of my "Aunt" Ida. She lived a long and fruitful life, and you can be proud to call this woman your mom or grandma. My memories are of her being a part of all our extended family gatherings, helping with the food, coffee, etc. and keeping a watchful eye out for the youngsters. She welcomed my mother, Ruth, who was NOT a prairie girl into the family when my father (Art Larsen and Alvin's first cousin) married and brought her into the community. Perhaps it was their common background in nursing, but I think it was Ida's warm and loving way. She will be forever remembered with love.
Your Cousin,
Linda McLellan (nee Larsen)

Our deep sympathy to Great Aunt Ida's family. May your vivid and fond memories of her help to fill the void left by her passing. Thank you for making it possible for more distant family to watch the service on October 3rd. Joleeen's tribute was so warm and deeply moving. As one of the Landstrom/Lundeen family historians, I excchanged calls and letters with Aunt Ida for several years as she sent along information on her's and Uncle Alvin's branch of the family, and I came to know some of you as well through email and letters. I met Aunt Ida a couple of times when I was a child and my family stopped at Govan on our summer trips between Dawson Creek, BC and Manitoba. And my Dad, Marvin, and I spoke with her by phone a couple of times - her birthday was one day before his so it was easy to remember. She was generous with her time even with a distant great nephew who she hardly knew. I can only imagine how deeply all her close family will miss her.

My sincere condolence to Ida's family. I have many found memories of working with her at the hospital (we often worked together on the same shifts). In later years we would enjoy short visits, whenever I would drop in to say hello on my way to visit my parents graves.

Auntie Ida meant so much to all those that were fortunate enough to know her. She was so caring and nurturing to everyone! Auntie always made time for family, when I would see her she would proudly show me pictures of her grandchildren and tell me all about you!
The service was a lovely tribute to her, those special memories each of you have will keep her close in your heart always!
