Obituary for Blanche Estelle Bowman (Rosenberger)

BLANCHE ESTELLE BOWMAN
September 26, 1931 – August 2, 2019
Blanche’s passing occurred in the Lanigan Hospital, 2 days short of their Aug. 4th wedding anniversary. Blanche was born on the Rosenberger family farm 6 miles SW of Guernsey, 1-mile North of Sharon Mennonite Church, to David and Irva Rosenberger. Next to her love of family came her love of flowers and music. She led singing in Sharon Church for many years. She was always surrounded by flowers, both in the garden and in the home. She took her primary education at Waterloo country school, and her high school in Guernsey school. After graduation, she worked in the Katz General store in Guernsey for seven years. In her early teen years, she became a member and was baptised into Sharon Church, and remained a member there until the Church was closed in 2004, when she transferred to North Star Church in Drake. Blanche and Don lived in the same community, and over time they realised they were meant for each other. They were married on Aug 4, 1956 and took a honey-moon trip to Yellowstone Park. They moved onto the Bowman farmed where Don farmed with his Dad and worked on road construction for the RM of Usborne. Within a few years they were blessed with 2 sons, Roger and Glenn. They made a number of holiday trips, twice to B.C., three times to Ontario, an Alaska cruise, and a few trips to Northern Sask. and Alberta. Blanche had a strong sense of service to others. Though arthritis damaged her fingers and other joints, she was always doing something for somebody, willingly and cheerfully. Left to cherish her memory and life are her husband of 63 years, Don Bowman, and two sons Roger Bowman (Sally),and Glenn Bowman (Monique), 6 grand-children, Blair, Amy, Matthew, Jessica, Chantal and Natalie and 2 great-grand-daughters, Ellie and Adeline; and 2 sisters, Inez and Velma Rosenberger. Blanche was a kind, loving, gracious wife, mother and friend. Though her death creates a void in our family, we take comfort in knowing that she is released from pain and declining health and in a better place. The Memorial Service will be held in North Star Mennonite Church in Drake on Thursday August 8th at 2 p.m. Interment will take place in Sharon Cemetery near Guernsey.
