Obituary for Ervin Manfred "Erv" Gatzke

Erv Gatzke

It is with great sadness that the family announces Erv's passing on June 21, 2019.
Erv was born in Nokomis on August 1, 1950. He attended elementary and high school there before starting work at the "Nokomis Times" as a linotype operator, a job he held for a number of years before trying construction in Calgary and finally settling on a career as a professional painter starting his own painting company in Nokomis.

In later years Erv was an avid bird watcher and enjoyed nothing better than to sit outside on a hot summer day with a cold one in his hand and watching the various birds going about their daily activities in nest building and raising their young.

A talented artist, Erv excelled at drawing, sign lettering and painting. A number of his works can be found in the Nokomis Museum.

Erv was predeceased by his parents, Albert and Alma (nee Kratz) and a sister Elfriede (Vincent). He leaves to mourn a sister, Alina of Wakaw, brothers Sig of Nokomis, Herb of Watrous, Robert (Judy) of Fort Mcleod Ab. Rudy (Sharon) of Regina, Harry and Ed of Calgary Ab., along with numerous nephews and nieces.

At his request there will be No Funeral Service. Cremation, Interment will take place at a later date. For online condolences, please visit http://www.fotheringham-mcdougall.com

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers any donations be given in Erv's honor to Kinsmen Telemiracle Foundation.
