Eugene Francis Wolff passed away peacefully at the Regina General
Hospital with family by his side on May 28, 2019 at the age of 79. He
was born at Simpson SK on September 25, 1939 to Frank and Mary
(Stratton) Wolff of Liberty SK. He married Carolyn Castell on September
30, 1961 in Liberty where they lived and raised their family. He was
predeceased by his father and mother Frank and Mary Wolff and a baby
sister. Eugene is survived by his wife Carolyn; sons Kevin and Joann
Wolff, Curtis and (Linda Curtis); granddaughters Karley and Alissa Wolff;
grandson, Jordan Wolff; sister Roberta (Carmen) Abrey; nieces April and Kelly

Eugene (Geno) was born with dirt in his veins and grew up on
the family farm between Liberty and Stalwart. He worked the land his
entire life successfully seeding and harvesting 59 crops. He loved to
curl in his younger years and hunt and fish when he could. His other
passion in life was to play the saxophone, which he did for many years
with the Liberty Orchestra. He spent many an hour with several different
bandmembers over the years and enjoyed all the time with them.
He was also a good community supporter, including the Liberty Co-op
board and the Liberty Service Club. He spent lots of time with family
and friends, liked to travel and loved life in general. Anyone who spent
time with Geno always came out with a smile. He will be missed by all who
knew him. May there be a bit of Geno in all of us.

A Memorial Service will be held at St. Pius X RC Church in Imperial at on Saturday, June 1st, 2019 at 2 p.m. Interment will follow in Wolfton Cemetery. For those so wishing donations to the Liberty Memorial Hall would be appreciated. For online condolences and tributes please visit

It was a sad day for me when I heard of the passing of Eugene. A few days prior, it was mentioned that he could be coming home soon. My earlier memories of Eugene was when he was a prominent musician playing the saxophone with the Liberty orchestra. Their music was a real treat to dance to, something we don't hear much of anymore. Whenever, we met at functions or on the street, I always appreciated his smile and friendly conversations. My wife Ruby and I offer our heartfelt condolences to Carolyn and families.

Carolyn, Kevin and Curtis and families,
Very sorry to hear of Eugene's passing as he was a great guy and cousin. I appreciated and cherished his company in our youth. We were together often as our fathers, Frank and Anthony began farming together to share the labor before they could operate alone with better farm machinery and their sons. There were several spring thaws where we could fish in Uncle Eddies creek using 22 caliber fishing rods when the fish swam up from Long Lake towards Highway 2.

He liked farming and could cultivate a very straight line without GPS. This was an accomplishment as he would need to make six or more passes up and down the field to match one pass using today's farm equipment. His music talent and saxophone playing with the Liberty Orchestra was cherished and always remembered. The dances at the Liberty Hall, at other local halls and Danceland at Watrous was a main stay for getting out on a Saturday night in our teenage years for all who were growing up in the area in the 50's and 60's.

In his teenage years, he had great cars and was meticulous in maintaining them. I remember a Ford Model T and two Pontiacs, one he fitted with a continental kit.

Eugene and Carolyn may God bless you and your family,
Bill & Mary-Rose Wolff, Calgary
