SCHLECHTER: Arthur (Art) Wayne

With heavy hearts and deepest sorrow we announce the passing of Arthur (Art) Schlechter on Saturday, February 2, 2019. Our husband, father and papa was honest, hardworking and loyal. We knew we were loved deeply, as we loved him. He had an impish personality, too, and loved teasing and playing jokes, a soul with spice and vinegar.

He loved life to the full and lived it well, had faith in his God and was a good neighbor and friend.

His career spanned work at the Regina Inn, Calgary Inn and Regina Exhibition Park. He loved the annual summer fair and met some amazing people with whom he cherished a relationship for decades.

He leaves behind his wife, Diane, son Tyson (Judy) and the "apple of his eye" his granddaughter, Raechel. He is predeceased by his mother, father, sister and brother. He leaves to cherish his memory his brothers Jim (Betty), Joe (Patti), Mark (Sheila) and Ralph, his sisters Joan and Loretta (Dave), his in-laws Ken, Garry, Gus (Bette), Kelly (Dianne), his sister-in-law Darlene (Bob), numerous nieces and nephews with whom he could always be counted on to indulge in a teasing encounter of one sort or another.

In lieu of flowers and if you wish, a donation can be offered to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Hospitals of Regina Foundation or a charity of your choice.

The Mass of the Christian Burial will be held in St. Rita's Roman Catholic Church in Strasbourg Sk on Friday February 8, 2019 at 11:00 a.m.

To Art's family,

Mary & I were so sorry to learn of Art's passing, and wish we had been able to attend his farewell service.

The world has lost a marvelous man. For many years we worked together at the Regina Inn, where he was our jovial host in the "Mark Twain" room as well as "Stage West" Dinner Theatre. His jovial and welcoming personality played a major role in the good times enjoyed by our patrons. He made everyone's experience a joyful one.

He was a great family man, and person of many talents, I used to enjoy hearing of his tales and challenges as a contender on the auto racing track, yet another of his passions.

A life well lived, and a gift to all who knew him well. May his rewards be many.

Dianne, Tyson, Judy, and Rachelle. Both Jo Ann and myself would like to offer our condolences over the loss of your husband, a great dad, grand father, uncle, and fellow sibling. Arts passing was a shock to us. Mandy had first mentioned it, as I think she heard it from Tyson on FB, and then too I seen Shawn, and Megan make a posing as well. It just sets you back, and makes one wonder where time as gone. We are all getting older, and life is very fragile. Loosing Carol was the first of the Schlechter family to leave us, and we carry on the best we can. I remember traveling out to Colesdale Park, and spending time at your beautiful cottage with Carol, and in the younger years with Holly, and Mandy. Great memories we will never forget. Thanks for being part of these memories, and I do hope you will live your lives the best you can without Art. I won't be easy, but as time goes on the pain never leaves you, but just gets to be less. Take care.

Dianne and family, offering sincere thoughts of sympathy. It was only this past November that I chatted with Art and yourself, reminiscing about the days of working at Regina Exhibition Association - we shared laughs about the good ole days. Take comfort in all your fond memories.
