Duane Engele, aged 80 years, passed away peacefully at Pasqua Hospital, Regina on Thursday, December 13, 2018 after a hard fought battle to cancer and other health issues. Duane was born in Humboldt, Sask., second child of Hugo and Marjorie Engele. He completed his schooling in Carmel, Sask. He worked in the International Harvester implement industry for 35 years alongside his dad and uncle known as “Engele Brothers”. Duane later married the love of his life, Kathleen McDonald and they spent the next 62 years together. Out of this union came two boys, Keith and Kirby. Their life was very busy with Duane’s sport activities, the boy’s activities and working alongside his dad. Duane was a member of Watrous Kinsmen and K-40, Watrous Curling Club and Manitou Beach Golf Club. Duane was fortunate to get to know many young curlers while coaching and mentoring high school students. He enjoyed hunting with his friends in early years. Being passionate and talented in curling led him to win many competitions. Duane loved being around his family and grandchildren and attended all of their school activities.
