Obituary for Howard MacConnel

John Howard MacConnel passed away peacefully, May 17, 2018, at Prince of Peace Manor with his daughter by his side. Howard was born to Alexander & Ethel(Collins) on July 25, 1933, an only child. When his father joined the Army in 1943 they moved to Watrous so Howard could attend school. His mother died in 1952 & after a trip to Kimberley, BC with his father, Howard went to work for Francis McArthur. He ended up working for Findlays in Watrous before we moved to Alberta in 1969. Dad worked in the agriculture business all of his life. Howard retired from Buhler Industries in 2004.

Howard met the love of his life, Mildred Stokke, at a dance in Venn. They were married in the Watrous United Church in November 1956. Soon after their nuptials they had Lenora in October 1957 & David in September, 1958. The family moved to Edmonton in 1969 then 9 months later to Calgary. 5 years later we moved to High River Alberta then back to Calgary in 1990.

Howard was blessed with two grandchildren Ami & Benjamin who he cherished greatly and even more so his 4 great grandsons Benny, Zachary, Joel & Chance & 1 great granddaughter Maisie. Howard is survived by his loving family, daughter Lenora, son David(Debby), granddaughter Ami(Jon Raedcher), grandson Ben(Michelle Turner), great grandsons Benny Turner, Zachary & Joel MacConnel, Chance MacRae & great granddaughter Maisie MacRae, sister in law Rowna Stokke, stepbrother Blaine MacPherson, stepbrother in law Bud Crilly, step sister in law Shirley MacPherson, nephews John(Lillian) MacDonald & girls, Jim(Janice) MacDonald & girls, Shane Stokke & numerous family & friends who he loved dearly.

Howard was predeceased by his wife Mildred(September 2017), his mother Ethel, his father Alexander, his stepmother Lillian, father in law John Stokke, mother in law Ellen Stokke, brother in laws Terry Stokke & Chuck MacDonald, sister in law Joyce MacDonald, step sister Shirley Ann Crilly, step brother Lorne MacPherson.
