Obituary for Jean Margaret Goodsman (Squair)

Jean Margaret (Squair) Goodsman was born in Viking, Alberta on February 9, 1928. She lived with her parents and six older brothers on a farm near Kinsella until she finished grade twelve. Her parents had moved to New Westminster and she relocated there. She completed her training as a Registered Nurse at the Royal Columbia Hospital in 1949. In the last year of her training she met her future husband George Goodsman when he spent that winter working at the coast. She worked a brief time in BC and Alberta before coming to work at the Imperial Union Hospital in 1952. George and Jean were married in November 1952 and she became a farm wife while continuing to work part time at the hospital until 1991. She was a quiet peaceful person and liked to do for others in a selfless manner. She enjoyed writing letters to many family and friends. Her faith was an important part of her life until the end. Her husband George passed away in October 2013 and she continued to live in their farm home. She died quietly and peacefully there where she remained with her family on June 19, 2018. She is lovingly remembered by her 3 sons and daughter: Gordon; Gary (Bonny, Sheena, Brendan, Chelsea, Tyler, Kale, Wyatt, Sarah, Sean, Jess); Glenn; Gayla; daughter-in-law Brenda; grandchildren: Devin, Tanna (Elisanne), Jeric. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Frank (Helen); sisters-in-law Marie, Helen, Ellen, Audrey, Ella, and Marg as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
