Shirley was born to Joe and Dora Michalycia in Melfort, SK on January 20, 1944. Her childhood years were spent on the farm at Yellow Creek. She attended Stoneless and Hazel Lake Schools before moving to Saskatoon and attended Sutherland School and Saskatoon Technical Collegiate. Shirley married Doug Galambos on September 18, 1970 in Saskatoon. After moving to Colonsay the couple owned and operated “Shirley’s Electric” an electrical contracting business where Shirley did the books. Shirley became Doug’s caregiver when his health deteriorated and the couple moved to Watrous. Shirley loved attending auction sales and collecting nic-nacs. She loved animals and especially Candy, her pet Pomeranian dog. Shirley passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at the Watrous District Health Complex. Shirley was predeceased by her husband Doug Galambos in 2004; parents Joe and Dora Michalycia; sisters Olga (Bill) Korpan, Sophie (John) Woytowich, Mary (Fred) Melnychuk, Elizabeth (Steve) Risula; brothers Joe Michalycia, Stan Michalycia; brothers-in-law Gilbert Leask, Bill Kulyk, Nick Kucherhan and Norman Galambos; and several nephews. Shirley is survived by her sisters Anne Kucherhan, Jennie Leask, her best friend and sister Dianna Michalycia; brothers Walter (Darlene) and Mike (Anne) Michalycia; sisters-in-law Olga Michalycia, Linda (Eldred) Fast, Ethel (Gary) Hackl; brother-in-law Roy (Sheila) Galambos; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. A Visitation for Family and Friends will take place in Fotheringham’s Funeral Chapel, Watrous, SK on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held in Watrous Baptist Church, Watrous, SK on Monday, October 23, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. A Private Family Interment will take place in Colonsay Cemetery.
