SILZER: Frank Adolph
March 11, 1930 – February 13, 2019
Frank was born to Joseph and Elizabeth (nee Schmidt) at 22-21-17 W2nd, near Cupar, SK on March 11, 1930. On August 11, 1956 he married Reta Irene Kish. They lived in a homebuilt trailer and eventually built a house in Young, SK. Frank worked in house construction, house painting and automotive mechanics in Melfort and Young. Frank was a diesel engineer mechanic for C.P. Rail in Calgary, Alberta. Frank worked on shaft sinking for Colonsay mine. He had many memories of this time in his life. Frank also had a multitude of trades, welding, electrical, AC & DC and learned handwriting analysis from the Institute of Applied Science. His hobbies included gardening, making birdhouses, tinkering, short-wave radio and listening to old time music. Frank enjoyed talking and visiting with children and especially his grandchildren. His faith was important to him and he lived by the Ten Commandments. He helped every stranger that needed it and never drove by a hitchhiker. Frank is survived by his five children, Dwayne Silzer, Laurie (Sean) Plock, Colleen Ritter, Anna (Samuel) Zawada, Darrell (Michelle) Silzer; twenty grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; brothers-and sisters-in-law, Jake (Pat) Silzer and Emil (Faye) Silzer; and by numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
