Obituary for Mildred Alexandra MacConnel (Stokke)

Mildred Alexandra MacConnel passed away at the South Calgary Hospital, after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. Mildred was born, October 4th, 1935, to John and Ellen Stokke. She was the eldest of three siblings, Terry and Joyce would follow. Mildred met John Howard MacConnel, in 1953 at a school dance in Venn, little did she know she would spend 61 years by his side. She graduated from Watrous High School in 1954; she also attended Robertson Business College in Saskatoon, graduating in 1956. Howard & Mildred were married on November 10th, 1956 at the United Church in Watrous Saskatchewan. The next few years Mildred gave birth to two beautiful children, Lenora in October of 1957 and David in September 1958. She left a great career with the Saskatchewan Power Corporation to become a mother and a wife, a duty she would take seriously until her last day. As a family they moved to Alberta in 1969. They settled in Calgary for a few years until they built their first home in High River in 1974, where they stayed for 14 years. In 1989 they moved back to Calgary, where they would purchase their final home in South Calgary. She was blessed with two grandchildren, Ami and Benjamin, whom she cherished deeply, and even more-so her 4 great grandchildren, Benny, Zach, Joel and Chance.
She was predeceased by her mother and father John & Ellen Stokke, her brother Terry Stokke, brother-in-law Charles MacDonald, aunt Signe Stokke, aunt Edna Harding, aunt Gertie Eytcheson, aunt Ellen Manson, aunt Mae Nelson, uncle Palmer Stokke & uncle Ed Nelson . She is survived by her loving family, Husband John Howard MacConnel: children - Lenora MacConnel, David & Debby MacConnel: grandchildren - Ami MacConnel & Jonathan Raedcher, Benjamin MacConnel & Michelle Turner: great grandchildren - Benny Turner, Zachary MacConnel, Joel MacConnel and Chance MacRae: Sister Joyce MacDonald: sister in-law Rowna Stokke: nieces & nephews John & Lillian MacDonald & family Jim & Janice MacDonald & family, Shane Stokke and numerous cousins & friends who she loved dearly.
