Obituary for Deborah Lucille Thoner (Hergott)

Deborah Thoner October 11, 1958 – August 31, 2017

Our beloved Debbie passed away peacefully with family around her at the Watrous Health Complex. Debbie was a devoted daughter of Wilfred and Virginia Hergott. She was the 2nd of 5 children, born on October 11, 1958, in Humboldt, SK. Debbie was involved in farming throughout her life; first in Bruno as her father’s right-hand girl, then as Lyle’s partner as they started farming southwest of Young in the early 80’s, and later sharing in her family’s farm with Lyle, Mark, Shannon and her three grandchildren. Debbie immersed herself in every aspect of the farm work, including the accounting. Debbie loved to cook, garden, and listen to Garett, her youngest son. She joyfully welcomed three precious grandchildren into her life; Rylan, Layton and Lauren. The coffee was always on at Lyle and Deb’s house and their friends and family frequently stopped by for great visits and many laughs. Her annual weekend trips with her friends brought her so much joy. She deeply valued her friendships.
Throughout her 36 years of ongoing health issues, Debbie remained positive, courageous and ever-caring of the special people in her life. This summer, her family witnessed the greatest example of love as Lyle selflessly cared for Debbie till her last moments. Debbie will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Debbie was predeceased by her parents Wilfred & Virginia Hergott. Debbie is survived by her husband of 38 years; Lyle, son Mark (Shannon) Thoner Rylan, Layton, Lauren, and son Garett. Debbie is also survived by two sisters; Kathy (Peter) Bielefeld Sara, Kristin Painter (Ryan), and Denise (Garth) Thoner, Rory (Angela), Levi, Hannah, and two brothers; Robert (Tammy) Hergott, Brett, Ross, and Brian (Michelle) Hergott, Luke, Cole, Ariel.
The family wishes to thank the St.Paul’s Renal Unit & the Watrous and District Health Complex for caring for Debbie with compassion and professionalism right up to her passing on August 31, 2017.
Interment will take place at a later date at Bethel Historical Site.
