Obituary for Erwin Richter

Erwin Richter aged 91 years of Nokomis SK passed away peacefully at Nokomis Health Centre on Sunday, June 4th, 2017. Erwin was born Oct 3rd, 1925 in Tchernjachow, Russia. He grew up on his parents’ farm till the age of 5 when events of the Russian Revolution caused them to lose the farm and relocate to Saparoschje, Ukraine where his father was forced to work in a factory. Erwin attended German school for 8 years and Russian school for 2. It was at this time through Stalin’s purges that his father along with many other men of German descent were sent to Siberian camps and were never heard of again. Erwin was of military age when the World War 2 broke out and was conscripted into the German Army. After the war he came to Canada under the sponsorship of his uncle, Alex Richter. In 1952 he met Adelheid Krueger, and they were married on Dec 12th of that year at the Nokomis Baptist Church and settled down on their farm south east of Nokomis. They were blessed with two children. Doris, born Oct 14th, 1955 and Roland, born Jan 23rd, 1958.
He is predeceased by his wife, Adelheid, parents Assaf and Elsa Richter, brothers Evgeny Richter, Waldemar Richter, granddaughter Stephanie Lynn Tutschek, uncles Alex (Johanna) Richter, John (Mary) Richter, brother in law Udo Krueger. He is survived by his daughter Doris (Roy) Tutschek of Calgary, son Roland (Ruth Anne) Richter of Nokomis, granddaughters Vanessa Richter of Nokomis, Jessica Richter of Regina, Kathy (Sing) Chang of Hong Kong, Sherry (Matt) Fergel of Calgary, sisters in law Trudy Krueger of Prince George, B.C. and Naomi (Manfred) Boettcher of Ingolstadt, Germany as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. The Memorial service will be held in Nokomis Baptist Church on Saturday, June 10th, 2017 at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow in Nokomis Cemetery.
