Obituary for Roy George Emde

Roy George Emde
EMDE: Roy George

Feb. 19, 1924 - Sept. 4, 2014

Roy George Emde was born to George and Amelia Emde on Feb 19, 1924, 3 miles south of Imperial, SK. at the Emde Homestead which remained his home for the majority of his life. Roy attended the one room Shiloh schoolhouse completing grade 8. Roy came to faith in Christ as a teenager while attending gospel services, at the urging of his sisters, in Stalwart led by Rev. Bernie Hunter. One winter he worked in Edmonton doing plastering and took the further step of being baptized in water at Central Tabernacle. Roy worked on the Emde farm as a young man along with his father. In his late 20’s he travelled to BC to work with his brother Ralph in logging on the Queen Charlotte Islands. Roy attended one year at Western Pentecostal Bible College, in North Vancouver. It was while in BC that he was introduced on a blind date to Doris Kiselbach of Burnaby, BC. Roy and Doris were married on June 4, 1953 and moved into ‘The Patterson Place’ south of Imperial. It was in this home they started their family with the first 3 sons, Don, Gary and Mark born in short succession. Following the passing of his father the family moved into the Emde homestead. Here 2 more sons were born, Curtis and another 6 years later, Trevor. Roy was an active member of Bethel Pentecostal Church. Roy loved to farm, and in later years garden, putter in his shops, tinker on equipment, listen to Gospel music and eat dessert at every meal. Roy and Doris celebrated many wedding anniversaries, the most recent being their 60th Diamond Anniversary on June 4, 2013. Roy was predeceased by his parents George and Amelia Emde (nee Dieno); sisters: Esther (Charlie) Tremblay, Mabel (Art) Robinson, Helen Emde and brother Ralph (Isabel) Emde. Roy is lovingly remembered by his wife Doris Emde; their sons: Don (Audrey) Emde of Imperial, SK; Gary (Lori) Emde of Saskatoon, SK; Mark (Nancy) Emde of Saskatoon, SK; Curtis (Norma) Emde of Carseland, AB; Trevor (Bonnie) Emde of Edson, AB: grandchildren: Blair (Carla) Emde; Spencer Emde, Carter Emde, Brandon Lucyk, Breanne Lucyk; Matthew (Eleisa) Emde, Graham (Jennifer) Emde, Rosalind (Brendon) Fredlund; Delton (Barbara) Emde, Jayden (Sabrina) Emde, Taygan Emde; Emily Emde: Great Grandchildren: Mason and Rueben Roy Emde; Karabo and Ellis Emde, Beckett and Annika Fredlund; Carolann (Josh) Ward and their daughter Emma, Jay Bowerin; Leland Mattock, and Aleah Emde.
